Charlie Chaplin Posters, And Other Silent Film StarsCharlie Chaplin was an English comedy actor. He acted in the early to mid Hollywood cinema era and is perhaps the most famous clown and mime ever to be caught on film. His career was a lengthy one, spanning a length of sixty-five years. It included more than just the clown act, as Charlie Chaplin was also a musician, director, producer, and script writer in addition to his famed acting. But, the name Charlie Chaplin most famously brings to mind the suited clown with hat doing the craziest of deeds and often landing himself in trouble. He began his career as a child on the Victorian stage and would end at the age of eighty eight, giving plenty of time to make a name for himself and Charlie Chaplin prints and Charlie Chaplin posters to be produced in large quantities. Today, those items along with other memorabilia from his career, are still sought after by collectors who favor this original actor who so many look to for inspiration. It is possible to buy a reproduced Charlie Chaplin print or a Charlie Chaplin poster at an affordable price, and online stores are an affordable source for ordering these types of old prints. Originals may still be found, but if one is looking for an original they are going to have a difficult search: these items are going to be decades old and many were not preserved properly, leaving them in a crumbling and brittle state at best. Charlie Chaplin movie posters are usually black and white, as are photos of the personality, but on occasion hand-drawn color items were produced.
These items are a rarity and even reproduced prints tend to be expensive. A smaller photo or print may be obtained for as little as ten to twenty dollars, but some of these color posters can be a few hundred dollars. It all depends on what a collector wants. For a diehard fan who collects Chaplin memorabilia, cost will not be so much of an issue. For a person wanting a vintage item to complete a room, spending a small amount on a Charlie Chaplin movie poster might be deemed more appropriate. Another silent but lesser known film star was Buster Keaton. Buster Keaton, whose real name was Joseph Frank Keaton, was an American silent film star. While Charlie Chaplin might have been the trademark clown, Keaton was famed for his deadpan expression and physical comedy. It might be more difficult to find a Buster Keaton poster, but they do exist. Buster Keaton posters tend to be more expensive and harder to find, and are of films later in his career than of his earlier works. To find original Buster Keaton movie posters may prove even more difficult, but not impossible. For collectors considering posters or prints of any old movies, actors, or comedians, they must determine how much money they are willing to spend and what kinds of items they are seeking. It is easy and inexpensive to find reproduced items when it comes to buying paper goods, but a collector must decide if they will be content with that. Sometimes half the fun of a collection is in the acquisition and the story behind certain items within it, and despite the cost, it may be worthwhile to say they own an original item rather than a reproduction. For someone using an item for decoration, a reprint may be suitable.
